Eugene Lawrence Reagan was born on March 26, 1925. But...
He was not given the name we know him by. When his father, Earl, was asked the name of the newborn baby he responded with whatever first came to mind.
He said "John Claude"
after his two brothers but it was recorded on his birth certificate as
"John Cloud Reagan."
The baby's mother, Loretta, had other ideas about her youngest son's name and had it recorded as "Eugene Lawrence" on the baptismal certificate, which Gene used for identification throughout his life.
So, why is geneological research so difficult?
